Organization

The Carmel Area Wastewater District (CAWD) is an independent special district operating under the provisions of the Sanitary District Act of 1923, Health and Safety Code, Section 6400 et eq. as amended.    The function of the District is to provide, operate and maintain sewage collection, treatment and disposal facilities for the properties included within its boundaries and for certain contracted adjacent properties, and supply reclaimed water to the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District. The District  is governed by a 5 member Board of Directors who are elected, at large, for terms of 4 years. The District currently employs 28 full time employees. 5 are in Administration, 6 in Collection System, 17 in Facility Operations.
